Joy Kinna
Joy. Joy is an intuitive painter who shares more than colors on canvas, she stimulates our souls. Such a predestined name for a talented artist who wants to embellish human dwelled spaces : homes, offices, coffee shops etc.
As she believes that "there is something incredible that happens when humans engage with artwork", Joy is involved in many creative projects by partnering with companies for custom projects and designs that fit their needs. She cultivates the strong link with intuitive painting through her abstract paintings while leading a proper family life.

1) When did art started to call you?
As a kid I was always interested in creating things, typically fascinated by colour and materials not much has changed in that regard.
Enfant, j'étais toujours attirée par la création, surtout fascinée par les couleurs et les matières.
2) Through your paintings, how do you connect with your intuition?
Honestly, I find my paintings allow me to slowdown and in return I’m more connected with myself and my creator.
Honnêtement, mes peintures me permettent de ralentir et en retour je me sens davantage connectée avec mon être profond créateur.
3) Where do you go to cultivate your inner peace?
My inner peace comes from knowing God intimately and connecting with Him on a daily basis.
Ma paix intérieure découle de ma connection intime au divin dans ma vie quotidienne.
4) Is your art a form of meditation?
It can be. There are certain warm up practices which are like meditation for my mind and soul. I find the focus that is required to create pushes me to meditate on resting in the creative process.
l pleut l'être. Certaines pratiques matinales s'apparentent à une méditation pour mon mental et mon âme. Je trouve que la concentration que ces pratiques me demandent me pousse à méditer tout en évoluant dans le processus créatif.
5) Any mentor or model?
There’s too many to count. I’ve been blessed with many encouraging voices in my life and art practice. A huge mentor right now is one of my part retired art professors. There are many contemporary artists that are currently inspiring my practice such as; Sharon Kingston, Katie Pumphrey, Heather Day, Claire Oswalt, and Yvonne Robert.
Il y en aurait bien trop à citer! J'ai été bénie par de nombreuses voix encourageante au cours de ma vie et pratique artistique. En ce moment, l'un de mes professeurs d'art à la retraite est mon plus grand mentor. De nombreux artistes contemporains inspirent ma pratique à l'heure actuelle, tel-les que Sharon Kingston, Katie Pumphrey, Heather Day, Claire Oswalt, et Yvonne Robert.
6) The most beautiful gift you have ever received?
The ability to explore, pursue art and take the risk in making career was and is a huge gift for me. But the most beautiful gift has to go back to where I find the peace in my life and that is in Jesus’ sacrifice - because of Gods love for people, and His desire to restore the earth He sent His son to die and take on all of our sinfulness so that if we believe in Him we may have eternal life with our creator! It’s an incredible, free gift and has radically changed my life and my art practice.
La capacité d'explorer, m'aventurer dans l'art et prendre le risque d'en faire carrière a été un immense cadeau pour moi-même. Mais le plus cadeau c'est là où je trouve le plus de paix dans ma life, et ce grâce au sacrifice de Jésus Christ - pour son amour pour les gens, son désir de préserver la terre il a envoyé son fils à la mort et pris tous nos péchés pour nous accorder une vie éternelle à ses côtés si nous croyons en lui! C'est un incroyable présent qui a radicalement changé ma vie et ma pratique de l'art.
7) What are you the most proud of?
In relation to my art practice, to be honest, lately I’ve been most proud to simply get out of the house with my little one and actually make it to the studio – making at a priority is a big one!
Par rapport à ma pratique artistique, pour être honnête, j'ai dernièrement été extrêmement fière de simplement sortir de la maison avec mon petit et vraiment fréquenter l'atelier - en faire une priorité est une victoire!
8) How do you find the balance between business and family life?
Yes! This is huge. Scheduling in time in the studio is a must. That way it becomes part of the routine. My husband and I discuss what days and how long I am there for, which helps us stay on the same page. My husband is a real champ. He is always more than willing to be alone with Kinsley for a day so that I am able to create in my studio alone. Without this support I wouldn’t be able to do what I do. I really also appreciate having the separate space outside of home, it helps me keep work at work. I find there are days I end up going to the studio with the whole fam (currently only 3 of us which makes it doable) and this helps to allow them in to my world a little bit.
Oui! c'est un challenge. Avoir un temps au studio est mon devoir. De cette manière cela devient partie intégrante de ma routine quotidienne. Mon mari et moi discutons des jours et de mon temps au studio, ce qui nous aide à garder le même rythme. Mon mari est un vrai héro. Il est toujours plus que motivé pour passer du temps avec Kinsley afin de ma laisser du temps à créer, seule, à l'atelier. Sans son aide, je ne pourrais pas en faire autant. J'aime beaucoup avoir cet espace indépendant de la maison, ça m'aide à garder le travail au travail. Certains jours nous allons au studio en famille (nous sommes 3 en ce moment ce qui rend la chose plus aisée) pour les intégrer à mon univers.
9) Which element do you feel the most connected with?
The intuitive process of my art practice for sure. After years of technical training in art, I am now at a place where my process is highly intuitive. I enjoy the freedom and excitement that comes from that
Le processus intuitif de ma pratique artistique. Après des années de formation artistique technique, je suis maintenant à l'aise là où mon évolution est hautement intuitive. J'adore la liberté et l'excitation que cela m'apporte.
